This miniature shows a famous scene from the Greco-Roman mythology. On the walls, a battleship and helmeted man leads his arm a young woman richly dressed. central figures of the composition, accompanied by a procession of men and women. The ancient context (architecture, helmet, armor) is associated with the costumes of the seventeenth century to illustrate the abduction of Helen, a young wife of Menelaus, the trojan Pâris. This episode, causing the fall of Troy, was painted by Guido Reni for Philip IV of Spain; the enamel of the Cognac-Jay museum is a copy in small format of the command carried out to 1626-1629.
