Under a canopy, the throne Virgin holding the Child Jesus on her lap. To the right, a musician angel tends an apple Child. This is an allusion to the fruit of the original sin that Christ will redeem by his sacrifice. On the other side, Christian d'Hondt, thirtieth mitred abbot of the Dunes, is prière.Ce table is a copy variant with the central panel of "Triptych of the two saints John" (Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum), painted by Hans Memling . The figure of the saint in prayer was changed to adapt to the work of Sponsor. The practice replicas of paintings, with or without variation, was quite widespread in the Flemish workshops of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. There is convincing evidence that Christian d'Hondt has seen the Viennese table and ordered a copy with his own effigy. The table may have been produced in the workshop or in the entourage of Memling, but the presence of painted also indicates a late intervention, probably nineteenth century.

The table included in the collection of Lord Morley Saltram near Plimouth. February 12, 1927, Charles Vincent Ocampo bought in London, merchant Charles Brunner, for the sum of £ 1 050. He donated subject to usufruct, to the City of Paris, in 1931 and raised the usufruct in 1942.
