This detached fresco is from a series of four ovals that were designed by Tiepolo and painted by his workshop for the decoration of the corners of the ceiling of a room in the Palazzo Valle-Marchesini-Sala in Vicenza. The attribute of the vase identifies the allegorical figure as representing Temperance.

Matigheid was made by the rococo artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. The original was painted with the size - Oval, 55 7/8 x 48 in (141,9 x 121,9 cm). Fresco, overgebracht op canvas was applied by the artist as the medium of the work of art. Nowadays, the piece of art is included in the Het Metropolitan Museum of Art kunstcollectie binnen New York City, New York, Verenigde Staten van Amerika. Het klassieke kunstkunstwerk, dat behoort tot de publiek domein wordt opgenomen met dank aan Het Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, legaat van Grace Rainey Rogers, 1943. The creditline of the artpiece is the following: Bequest of Grace Rainey Rogers, 1943. Furthermore, alignment is Portret with a ratio of 3 : 4, meaning that the length is 25% shorter than the width. Giovanni Battista Tiepolo was a male painter, printmaker, whose style was mainly Rococo. The Italian painter lived for a total of 74 jaar, born in 1696 in Venice, Venezia province, Veneto, Italy and died in the year 1770.

• Canvasafdruk: The canvas print is a printed cotton canvas mounted on a wooden frame. A canvas makes the special impression of three-dimensionality. Hanging your canvas print: Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is easy to hang the Canvas print without the support of any wall-mounts. Hence, a canvas print is suitable for any type of wall.
