The tambourine held by the model and the soaring clothing indicate that it must be the portrait of an actress or more likely a dancer. The late nineteenth century wanted to recognize in this work the portrait of Marie-Anne Cupis, called Mademoiselle Camargo, which is impossible because the illustrious dancer died in 1770 and it was painted around 1785-1786. This portrait could, for cons, be that of Miss Anna Heinel, famous dancer of the Opera. kinship traits we find in fact and expression with his portrait painted by Michel Vincent Brandoin and engraved in London in 1772 by Proud ( "Miss Heinel in the Character of a Sultana").
