The over 260 year-old painting was created by the barok schilder Jean Marc Nattier in 1752. The artpiece was painted with the absolute dimensions: ingelijst: 127,5 x 107,5 x 10 cm (50 3/16 x 42 5/16 x 3 15/16 inch); Zonder lijst: 100,4 x 79,5 cm (39 1/2 x 31 5/16 inch) and was painted with the medium oil on canvas. The original artwork has the following text as inscrption: "signed lower left: Nattier P.x. / 1752". It belongs to the Het Cleveland Museum of Art digital collection. The classic art public domain artpiece is being supplied with courtesy of Het Cleveland Museum of Art. Besides, the artwork has the following creditline: Bequest of John L. Severance. On top of that, alignment is in Portret formaat met een zijverhouding van 1 : 1.2, wat dat impliceert de lengte is 20% korter dan de breedte. Jean-Marc Nattier was a male artist, painter from France, whose artistic style was mainly Baroque. The European artist was born in the year 1685 in Parijs, Ile-de-France, Frankrijk en stierf op de leeftijd van 81 in het jaar 1766.

For many years, this sitter was identified as Madame de Pompadour, but she bears little resemblance to this pivotal figure in French art and politics of the mid 1700s. Nattier specialized in portraits of women in mythological guises—in this case, the bow, quiver, and leopard skin, all attributes of Diana, goddess of the hunt.
