Hubertus Robert created this rococo masterpiece called Een colonnade in ruïnes. The version of the artpiece has the following size of 23 x 61 1/8 inch (58,4 x 155,3 cm). Olieverf op canvas was used by the painter as the technique for the work of art. What is more, the piece of art can be viewed in in the collection of Het Metropolitan Museum of Art. Deze publiek domein artwork is inbegrepen met dank aan Het Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, geschenk van J. Pierpont Morgan, 1917. Creditline van het kunstwerk: Schenking van J. Pierpont Morgan, 1917. Daarnaast is de uitlijning Landschap en heeft een zijverhouding van 5: 2, which implies that the length is two and a half times longer than the width. The curator, painter Hubert Robert was a European artist, whose style was primarily Rococo. The painter lived for 75 jaar, geboren in 1733 in Parijs, Ile-de-France, Frankrijk en overleden in het jaar 1808.

The ruins in this painting are modelled after Bernini's renowned colonnade for Saint Peter's in Rome. Its pendant, Arches in Ruins (17.190.31), is exhibited in this gallery on the opposite wall over the door.
