The painter Paul Cézanne was a European artist, whose artistic style can be attributed primarily to Impressionism. The Impressionist painter lived for a total of 67 jaar, geboren in 1839 en overleden in het jaar 1906.

The white and bright components of the original work of art shimmer with a silky gloss but without glare.

This rich and dense still life, featuring a napkin shaped like Mont Sainte-Victoire, was painted about 1876–77 in the house of Cézanne's father in Aix. The decorative screen visible in the background was long thought to have been made by the artist in his youth.
