De waarzegger was by Jan Steen in 1654. The original version measures the size: hoogte: 73,5 cm breedte: 59,7 cm | hoogte: 28,9 in breedte: 23,5 in. Olieverf op canvas was used by the European painter as the medium of the artwork. The original artwork's inscription is - "signed: J. Steen". It is included in the Mauritshuis digital collection, which the Mauritshuis is home to the best artworks of Dutch painting of the seventeenth century. Further, the alignment is in portrait formaat en heeft een verhouding van 1 : 1.2, wat betekent dat de lengte is 20% korter dan de breedte. Jan Steen was a male painter from the Netherlands, whose artistic style can be attributed mainly to Baroque. The European painter was born in the year 1626 in Alkmaar, Noord-Holland, Nederland en overleed op 16-jarige leeftijd 53 in het jaar 1679.
