"Portrait of Philipp Melanchton (1497-1560)" was by the artist Lucas Cranach de Oude in 1545. The over 470 year-old original version had the exact size hoogte: 36 cm breedte: 23 cm | hoogte: 14,2 in breedte: 9,1 in. Oil on panel was applied by the European painter as the technique for the masterpiece. Signed: L is the painting's original inscription. Besides, this work of art can be viewed in in the Mauritshuis's collection, which the Mauritshuis is home to the best artworks of Dutch painting of the seventeenth century. We are happy to reference that this artwork, which belongs to the public domain is included with courtesy of Mauritshuis, The Hague. The creditline of the artwork is the following: Legaat van Cornelis Hoogendijk aan de Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (inv. nr. SK-A-2561), 1912; in langdurig bruikleen van de Rijksmuseumsinds 1951. Sterker nog, de uitlijning is binnen Portret formaat en heeft een beeldverhouding van 2: 3, Waardoor de lengte is 33% korter dan de breedte. Lucas Cranach the Elder was a male painter of German nationality, whose style can be classified as Northern Renaissance. The artist was born in the year 1472 in Kronach, Bavaria, Germany and passed away at the age of 81 in 1553.
