Paul Delaroche (1797-1856), known for its great history paintings, also devoted himself to the portrait genre where he took his family to models in varied compositions inspired by the Italian Renaissance. This picture portrays his son Horace (1836-1879), just entered its second year in a plush interior, candor raises full contrast with the fixed stare of her dog, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel.

This portrait shows an intimate aspect of the art of Paul Delaroche, best known for his large historical paintings. The model, his eldest son Horace, became a medical doctor and councilor of Versailles. His mother, Louise Vernet, is the daughter of the painter Horace Vernet and the granddaughter of Carle Vernet whose portrait by Lepicie is also preserved at the Petit Palais.

For every product we offer different sizes and materials. Select your preferred size and material between the subsequent choices:

  • Canvas: The canvas print is a printed canvas stretched on a wood stretcher. A canvas print makes a cosy, positive feeling. A canvas print has the advantage of being relatively low in weight, meaning that it is quite simple to hang the Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. A canvas print is suited for all kinds of walls.
  • Metaalprint (aluminium dibond): An Aluminium Dibond print is a print with an outstanding depth effect. A direct Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is your excellent introduction to replicas with aluminum. The white & bright sections of the artwork shimmer with a silk gloss, however without the glow.
  • De posterafdruk (canvasmateriaal): The poster is a UV printed sheet of cotton canvas paper with a nice surface finish, which resembles the actual artwork. Please keep in mind, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm around the work of art to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
  • Afdrukken op acrylglas: An acrylic glass print, often described as a UV print on plexiglass, will convert your favorite original artwork into beautiful décor and makes a great alternative to aluminium and canvas fine art replicas. The great upside of a plexiglass fine art print is that contrasts plus details will be more exposed due to the granular gradation of the print. Our plexiglass with real glass coating protects your selected art print against sunlight and heat for decades.
