Throughout his career, Fromentin's subject matter was drawn largely from the romantic and colorful life of Arabian nomads. This late example, which reflects Corot's influence, was purchased directly from the artist by Catharine Lorillard Wolfe.

This 19th century painting was painted by Eugène Fromentin in 1873. Het meer dan 140 jaar oude origineel meet het formaat: 20 x 24 1/2 inch (50,8 x 62,2 cm) and was painted with the medium oil on wood. It is part of the digital collection of Het Metropolitan Museum of Art. Besides this, the alignment is Landschap en heeft een zijverhouding van 1.2: 1, meaning that the length is 20% longer than the width. Eugène Fromentin was a painter, whose artistic style can be classified as Realism. The artist was born in the year 1820 and died at the age of 56 in the year 1876.
