Allegorie van de lente
In 1859 wordt het landgoed Jas de Bouffan gekocht door de ouders van Paul Cézanne. Dit maakt het een decoratie op het thema van de vier seizoenen voor de muren van de woonkamer. De uitvoering van dit ontwerp hielp Louis-Auguste Cézanne ervan te overtuigen om zijn zoon naar Parijs te laten gaan om kunst te studeren, wat in 1861 werd gedaan. De Jas de Bouffan werd verkocht in september 1899, na de dood van de moeder van de schilder. Cezanne heeft dan nauw contact met Ambroise Vollard. Later is het decor losgemaakt van de muren van het pand en is het in 1950 terug te vinden op het landgoed Vollard.
